Controlling your vehicle's movement is similar to controlling your character. Use to move, and slide the to control the camera.

5. Attacking

There are two types of vehicles: work vehicles and attack vehicles. Work vehicles are mainly used for transportation and collecting resources, while attack vehicles are used in combat. Using tanks as an example, tanks can only attack once started, and shells need to be placed in the "Vehicle Ammo Rack." While driving a vehicle, two crosshairs will appear on your screen. The solid circle represents the driver's field of vision, and the dotted circle represents the gun's crosshair. When a target is within the dotted circle, you can shoot using . You can also press to aim accurately before using to fire.

Starting at Level 16, players can unlock the Vehicle Factory tech from the Tech interface . All airborne vehicles in the game, as well as vehicle-related spare parts and ammunition need to be crafted at the Vehicle Factory.

With the interaction menu open, move the mouse and click on "Get in Pilot" to begin piloting the vehicle.

3. Starting Vehicles

Vehicles require gasoline to start. Once in the pilot's seat, press to open your inventory, then use to drag gasoline from your inventory to the vehicle's gas can, then press to return to the game. Once your vehicle has gasoline, press to start it.

4. Vehicle Movement

Compared to ground vehicles, airborne vehicles have a complex control scheme. Airborne vehicle controls include take off, move forward, move backward, hover, descend, ascend, and land. Before you can master an airborne vehicle, you will need to understand its instrument panel.

1. Lift: Used to control a helicopter's ascent and descent. Press to increase lift, and to decrease lift.

2. Horizontal Speed: Indicates the flight speed of the helicopter.

3. Level: Indicates the tilt of the helicopter.

4. Altitude: Indicates the distance from the helicopter to the ground.

5. Vertical Speed: This is divided into 5 segments. The center segment represents 0. When the pointer is below 0, you are descending. When the pointer is above 0, you are ascending.

Take off: Once the engine has been turned on, press and hold to increase lift and take off.

Move forward: Upon taking off, continue to hold to maintain lift, and at the same time pull the back to tilt the helicopter's nose downward. You will notice that your speed begins to increase. Make sure that you do not tilt too far forward, or you will lose control and crash.

Move backward: Hold the to maintain lift and push the forward to tilt the helicopter's nose upward. You will notice that your backward speed begins to increase. Make sure that you do not tilt too far backward, or you will lose control and crash.

Turn: Slide the left and right to turn. You can also press or to turn quickly.

Hover: While in flight, press to hover.

Ascend: While in flight, press and hold to increase lift, at the same time gently pushing to tilt the helicopter's nose upward. The helicopter will then begin to ascend. How much it ascends depends on your lift and the angle of the helicopter's nose. Upon reaching a certain altitude, the helicopter will no longer be able to climb, and will then only be able to descend, or move at a horizontal trajectory.

Land: Position the helicopter above the location where you intend to land, then press to hover. Once your speed reaches 0, press and hold to begin landing.

5. Attacking

Helicopters have two types of weapons: 1. Machine guns; 2. Missiles.

To operate a machine gun, you simply need to sit in the "Gunner's Seat" and add the proper ammunition to the "Vehicle Ammo Rack."

Missiles can only be used when a launcher is attached to the "Vehicle Gear Slot." The type of launcher you'll want to use differs depending on the target. Types of launchers include air-to-air launchers, air-to-surface launchers, and more. Launchers can only be equipped within 30 meters of a Vehicle Factory. If two types of launchers are equipped at the same time, you can use the 1 and 2 keys to switch between them. When a target is within the aiming reticle and is marked red, it means you have locked onto that target. Once locked on, click to fire.

6. Warnings and Evasion

When an enemy locks onto and fires upon your helicopter, a "Warning" indicator will flash in the middle of the screen. At this time, you will need to fly out of the way of the incoming projectile or press to use jammers.

The Spacetime Beacon is a spatial positioning device used when building a base. It can send signals to receive supplies, and marks your territory over a radius of 125 meters. When stocked with repair materials, it will automatically repair all structures within 50 meters. On PVP servers, you can set the protection time for base structures at your Spacetime Beacon, preventing those structures from being attacked for a certain period of time. The Spacetime Beacon can be unlocked from the Structures tab of the Tech interface .

Collecting resources is the most basic gameplay element of The Front. Most resources in the game will need to be collected by hand or with the help of tools. You can also join a squad from the squad interface and set up a division of labor with your squadmates to more efficiently collect resources. Basic resources you've collected can be processed into advanced materials at workbenches, such as the Crafting Table, the Chemist's Bench, the Forging Table, and more. These advanced materials can then be used in crafting structures, equipment, vehicles, defenses, and weapons.

When you're playing with a new character, your Tech level will be relatively low and you won't have many resources. You will also not yet be able to craft and use higher-efficiency tools, so you'll need to start off by collecting resources with your bare hands. This method is relatively primitive, and you will only be able to collect the most basic resources. Resources that can be collected using your bare hands include small stones, branches, and plants such as bushes, dandelions, poppy, mushrooms, and fruit that you find on the ground. Advanced resources such as trees and ore will need to be collected with the help of tools. You can punch trees and rocks to get these resources, but you will not be able to collect very many using this method.

For instance, to collect dandelions, use and to move your character near the dandelion, then press to collect it.

As you accumulate resources and level up, you will be able to unlock new tools from the Weapons tab of the Tech interface . Using tools to collect resources is not only more efficient, there are also certain resources that can only be collected using these tools. The Stone Axe and Stone Pickaxe are the most basic collection tools in The Front. After unlocking them from the Weapons tab of the Tech interface , you will be able to craft them from your crafting inventory . Use to click on the Stone Axe or Stone Pickaxe in your crafting inventory to craft them. Once crafted, they will be placed in your normal inventory . Open your inventory , click and drag the Stone Axe or Stone Pickaxe to your shortcut bar, then press to return to the game. Press the number keys corresponding to the shortcuts in which you've placed your tool to equip them, then move close to a resource you want to collect and click to collect it. Different tools collect different types of resources. Stone Axes collect resources from trees, Stone Pickaxes collect ore from stones, Stone Knives collect resources from animal carcasses, Stone Shovels collect Crude Oil and Sand, and Stone Sickles collect resources from plants.

Once your character reaches a certain level, you will be able to unlock resource collection vehicles from the Vehicles tab of the Tech interface . Such vehicles include Logging Trucks, Harvesters, and Miners. These vehicles are very efficient at collecting resources. Logging Trucks collect wood, Harvesters collect basic types of plants, and Miners collect ore. Drive the vehicle to any place where the corresponding resource is located to start collecting it.

In The Front, you will face a variety of existential threats, both from nature and from other players. A strong base, having lots of supplies, and advanced weapons are all key factors to ensuring your survival. These all must be built up step-by-step. As your character levels up, you will be able to unlock more advanced tech formulas in the Tech interface . There are currently 7 major tech trees that can be unlocked in The Front, namely: Basic, Weapons, Structures, Vehicles, Gear, Supplies, and Technology. In addition to meeting a level requirement, some tech will also require you to spend a certain amount of Ether Shards . Different tech also has different crafting requirements.

Tech in the early game can generally be crafted from your crafting inventory . When unlocking tech from the tech interface , so long as the tech you want to unlock does not specifically indicate that it requires a special workbench to craft, then it can be crafted from your crafting inventory .

How to craft:

1. Press to open the crafting inventory. When you have enough materials to craft something, the corresponding recipe on the left will be highlighted.

2. Click on the recipe, and the Craft button as well as its required materials will appear on the right.

3. Click "Craft" and wait for the item to finish crafting.

Whether you are a solo player or have joined a squad , your base will need to have workbenches; they are where most of the tech in the game is crafted. The Front has various different workbenches, including the Crafting Table, Chemist's Bench, Weapon Crafting Table, Metal Processor, Forging Table, and more. Each workbench can only be used to craft specific tech. When unlocking new tech, you can check the recipe interface to see which workbench the tech requires.

How to craft:

1. After placing a workbench, press while next to it to open it. The workbench where tech can be produced will appear on the left, the workbench's inventory will appear on the right, and your inventory will appear in the middle.

2. Place the required materials into the workbench's inventory on the right. Once enough materials have been placed into the workbench's inventory, the corresponding recipe will be highlighted on the left.

3. Click on the corresponding recipe on the left, and the Craft button as well as the material requirements will appear above your inventory.

4. Click "Craft" and wait for the item to finish crafting.

Most of the items you will craft in The Front, including tools, weapons, gear, vehicles, and structures, have a Durability stat. When a crafted item's Durability reaches 0, the item will be damaged and will need to be repaired.

Collection tools such as Stone Axes, Stone Pickaxes, Stone Knives, Stone Shovels, etc. will only lose Durability with use. When an item's Durability reaches 0, you will no longer be able to use that item, and you will need to repair it or craft a new one. If you have enough materials to repair it, you can do so directly from your inventory or at the workbench where the tool was crafted.

Checking a Tool's Durability:

1. When a tool is in your inventory, press to open the inventory, then move your mouse cursor over the tool to see its Durability.

When an item's Durability reaches 0, you will no longer be able to use that item, and you will need to repair it or craft a new one. If you have enough materials to repair it, you can do so directly from your inventory or at the workbench where the weapon was crafted.

Checking a Weapon's Durability:

1. When a weapon is in your inventory, press to open the inventory, then move your mouse cursor over the weapon to see its Durability.

2. When a weapon is stored at a workbench or in a storage chest, press to open the corresponding work bench or storage chest, then move your mouse cursor over the weapon to see its Durability.

How to Repair a Weapon:

1. Press to open your inventory, then click the weapon you wish to repair.

2. Press to start repairing it.

3. Wait for the weapon to finish being repaired.

Gear will only lose Durability when you are attacked while wearing it. When a piece of gear's Durability reaches 0, it will no longer give you defensive bonuses, and you will need to repair it or craft a new one. If you have enough materials to repair it, you can do so directly from your inventory or at the workbench where the gear was crafted.

Checking Gear Durability:

1. When a piece of gear is in your inventory, press to open the inventory, then move your mouse cursor over the gear to see its Durability.

4. Move the mouse cursor over to the vehicle in the Vehicle Factory, then click to select it.

5. Press to start repairing it, then wait for the vehicle to finish being repaired.

A structure will lose Durability over time and when it is attacked. When a structure's Durability reaches 0, it will be destroyed, and any other structures that it is supporting will collapse. While facing a structure, press to view its Durability. Currently, the game provides two ways to repair structures: by manually repairing it with a Wood Hammer, or having your Spacetime Beacon repair it (and all other structures within range of the Beacon) automatically.

Checking a Structure's Durability:

1. Use and to approach the structure.

2. While facing the structure, press to view its current Durability.

How to Repair Structures Using a Wood Hammer:

4. Drag the resources from your inventory to the Spacetime Beacon's inventory, then click "Submit Resources".

Note: If auto-repair requires more resources each week than you currently have, you can submit these resources multiple times, as they are needed. The Spacetime Beacon's auto-repair function applies only to structures; it cannot repair vehicles. Provided it has been supplied with sufficient materials, it will automatically repair 10% Durability for all structures within range every hour.

Structures are important places for storing supplies and providing shelter. Having a proper base will allow you to survive the harsh world of The Front. You will be able to choose the site at which you build your base, its construction, layout, support, and decorations. The Front features structures composed of different materials such as wood, concrete, stone, steel, and metal alloys. The higher the quality of the material you use, the higher your structures' Durability and defensive capabilities will be. This will give you a leg up on some of the game's more powerful wild creatures and hostile forces.

Basic structure components include foundations, tri-foundations, and pillars. These can all be unlocked from the Structures tab of the Tech interface . The Front supports squads with up to 6 players. Players are able to share supplies and buildings with their squadmates, allowing them to accumulate supplies more efficiently and fend off threats from the environment and from other players. Non-squad members will not be able to place structures within the squad's territory as marked by the Spacetime Beacon. Within a squad, the owner of a Spacetime Beacon also has ownership of all squad structures within that beacon. When you leave a squad, all structures you have built within range of the Spacetime Beacon will remain with the squad, while any other structures will still belong to you.

Press to open the Squad interface, then click "Create Squad." Upon choosing a squad icon and name, click Confirm to create your squad.

There are two ways a player may join a squad: by application or by invitation.

1. To apply to join a squad, open the Join Squad tab of the Squad interface , choose a squad from the squad list, click Apply, then wait for the squad to approve your application.

2. To invite a player to a squad, the squad's creator will need to click the Invite button at the bottom of the Squad interface , enter the target character's name, click "Invite", and wait for the invited player to agree.

Tasks in The Front include survival and combat types. After completing these tasks, you will gain XP. Some tasks will also grant Ether Shards.

Death and revival are a common part of The Front. While fighting or exploring, your character may die multiple times. High-level weapons and equipment, proper defenses, and having lots of supplies will reduce your chances of dying.

There are many reasons your character may die in The Front, including starvation, thirst, falling, drowning, wild creature attacks, NPC attacks, zombie attacks, traps (only in PVP), player attacks (only in PVP), etc.

Upon death, your character will drop all of their items. Those items will remain at your site of death for 30 minutes before disappearing. During this time, you may pick them up again.

After dying, your character may return to life via revival. There are two methods of revival: reviving at a default location, or reviving at a sleeping bag or bed that you have placed.

If you have not placed a sleeping bag or bed, you will only be able to revive at a default revival area. If you have placed a sleeping bag or bed, then you can choose to revive at that location. Proper placement of sleeping bags and beds is essential both for novice players and for seasoned veterans.

Reviving at a Sleeping Bag or Bed:

After placing a sleeping bag or bed, it can be used as a revival point.

Acquiring resources allows you to build structures, craft equipment, craft vehicles, and deploy defenses. There are many ways to obtain resources in The Front.

Only basic resources can be collected. There are three ways to collect resources: by hand, with tools, and with vehicles. The Front also provides structures that automatically produce resources, such as mines and oil wells, which can be unlocked from the Structure tab of the Tech interface . These structures must be connected to an electrical system to function.

While exploring the wilderness, you will sometimes come across Waste Barrels and Trash Baskets. Loot these to obtain a small amount of supplies.

There are many Points of Interest scattered around the map, such as gas stations, military bases, abandoned factories, churches, villages, and more. These locations are often guarded by armed NPCs and thugs. Looting these locations can yield more types of supplies than you can get from exploring the wilderness, and you'll have a higher chance of obtaining advanced items.

Supplies sent from the future will appear randomly on the map, and will be especially visible at night. These supplies are divided into five different qualities: uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, and exotic. Each quality tier is restricted by level:

Uncommon (Green): Lv. 1-20

Rare (Blue): Lv. 21-30

Epic (Purple): Lv. 31-40

Legendary (Orange): Lv. 41-50

Exotic (Red): Lv. 51-60

These supplies generally hold high-value materials, including a chance to get high-quality items and blueprints.

You can exchange supplies with other players by using the "Discard" function to place them on the ground. If you are on a PVP server, you can also obtain supplies by killing other players and raiding their bases. When a player is killed or a structure is destroyed, the supplies in their inventory will be dropped on the ground, at which point you can press to loot them.

There are many points of interest and mines scattered around the map. These locations are often guarded by armed NPCs and thugs. After killing them, they will drop items. Certain special NPCs will drop better items.

Receiving supplies from Spacetime Beacons is a good way to regularly obtain large amounts of high-value items. Once you've placed a Spacetime Beacon, you will periodically be able to receive supplies. You will need to take adequate defensive measures before receiving these supplies, because when supplies are incoming, a large number of NPCs will attack your beacon. Only by protecting your beacon from being destroyed for the duration of this raid and killing a sufficient number of NPCs can you receive the supplies. For every round of supplies you receive, the number and strength of these NPCs will increase. Naturally, so will the quality of the supplies you receive.

How to Receive Spacetime Beacon supplies:

1. Approach your Spacetime Beacon and press to interact with it.

2. At the Spacetime Beacon's terminal, based on your defensive capabilities, select the number of rounds of supplies you would like to receive, and then click "Receive" in the lower-right corner.

3. Protect your beacon from being destroyed during the raid and kill the requisite number of NPCs.

4. Once you've successfully defended your beacon from the raid, approach your Spacetime Beacon and press to interact with it and claim your supplies.

Ether Shards are important for unlocking new tech in the Tech interface . Except for some tech in the early game, unlocking most tech will require Ether Shards. The higher your tech level, the more Ether Shards you will need.

There are many ways you might find Ether Shards: completing missions, exploring the wilderness, looting points of interest, obtaining supplies from the future, NPC drops, raid monsters, Spacetime Beacon supply drops, exchanging with other players, and killing other players.

Crafting items in The Front uses resources. Use the resources you collect to craft increasingly complex items as you play. Being familiar with where these resources are distributed will help you save time finding them.

A well-constructed power system is important to ensure survival and production. Electrical equipment, irrigation equipment, and advanced defensive structures all require electricity to function. Proper power generation and proficiency in circuit construction will greatly improve your chances of survival.

Unlocked from the Technology tab of the Tech interface . Diesel Generators are the first power generation equipment you will unlock, and require gasoline to generate electricity.

Unlocked from the Technology tab of the Tech interface . It must be powered by a human to generate electricity.

Unlocked from the Technology tab of the Tech interface . Wind Generators generate electricity based on the ambient wind speed. The stronger the wind speed, the more power they will generate. The local wind speed can be viewed in the environmental status indicators in the upper-right corner of the main interface.

Unlocked from the Technology tab of the Tech interface . Solar Generators only generate electricity while receiving light. The stronger the intensity of the light, the more power they will generate. Light intensity can be viewed in the environmental status indicators in the upper-right corner of the main interface.

A basic circuit system consists of power generation equipment, circuits, and electrical equipment. For instance, you may use a a Diesel Generator, gasoline, an Electric Tool Pack, and fluorescent lights to generate light. All of these can be unlocked from the Technology tab of the Tech interface . Note: There is no cable recipe in The Front. Planting is a sure-fire way to obtain crops and vegetables efficiently. The Front simulates a basic planting process; you will need to sow, irrigate, fertilize, harvest, and process. The growth period of plants consists of four stages: the seedling stage, the breeding stage, the mature stage, and the withering stage. Growth rate and final yield will be affected by factors such as moisture, light, temperature, and fertility, all of which require special attention. Plants that can currently be planted in the game include: corn, tomatoes, ferns, peppers, sugar cane, dandelions, wheat, and poppy.

Sowing requires a crop plot and seeds. Crop plots can be unlocked from the Structures tab of the Tech interface . To acquire seeds, please refer to the Resource Distribution page of this wiki. Seeds can also be acquired during the breeding stage of the growth process. By repeatedly breeding plants, you will be able to obtain a stable supply of seeds.

How to Sow Seeds:

1. After placing a crop plot, drag the seeds you want to plant to your shortcut bar.

2. Approach your crop plot and press the shortcut key corresponding to your seeds to equip them.

3. When green spots appear on the crop plot, press to sow your seeds.

From the time they are planted until the withering stage, plants consume water. Rainy weather will replenish the crop plot's water, but you cannot guarantee that it will rain, so you will need to build a complete irrigation system to ensure the health of your plants. Irrigation equipment includes: water diversion equipment, pipes, and sprinklers. Water Tool Packs will also be used to lay pipes. In addition, if you are using water pressure equipment to manage the flow of the water, those will need to be hooked up to a functioning electrical system. A basic irrigation system consists of a Dew Collector, Sprinklers, and a Water Tool Pack, all of which can be unlocked from the Technology tab of the Tech interface . Note: There is no pipe recipe in The Front. While holding a Water Tool Pack, you can directly lay pipe from the output port of the pump that you are using and connect the other end of the pipe to the input port of the sprinkler you want to power.

How to Divert Water and Lay Pipes:

1. Place a Dew Collector that you have crafted in the appropriate spot.

2. Place sprinklers near your crop plot.

3. Approach your Dew Collector with your Water Tool Pack equipped. The Dew Collector's green output port will be highlighted.

4. Click the highlighted output port with your mouse cursor to connect a pipe. A green indicator line will appear.

5. Approach your sprinklers and move your cursor over the red input port, then click on it to lay pipe.

Fish that you've caught can be used to make advanced ingredients at Bonfires and Kitchen Counters. Advanced ingredients can be unlocked from the Supplies tab of the Tech interface .

In The Front, except for certain special NPCs and NPCs summoned by beacons, most NPCs can be subdued and turned into followers. Followers will not only fight alongside you, they can also help defend your base. Every player can subdue multiple followers, but only one follower can follow you into battle at a time.

To subdue a follower, you will first need to fight an NPC. If the NPC can be subdued, then the icon will appear above their head when their HP falls below 50%.

When the icon appears, throw a "Simple Jammer" or "Pulse Jammer" at them to knock them down. Once the NPC is knocked down, their Chaos level will begin to fall. When their Chaos level reaches 0, subduing will fail. You will need to throw multiple "Simple Jammers" or "Pulse Jammers" at them before they will be completely subdued.

Approach an NPC and press to interact with it, then place food in the NPC's inventory. Different NPCs have different food preferences. You can only increase their Obedience by giving them their favorite food. You can see what their favorite food is from the favorite food button of the NPC's attributes column.

When their Obedience bar reaches 100%, face them and press and select "Subdue" to make them your follower.

Press to control your followers. When they are following you, press and hold to control their movement, attack behavior, and other behaviors.

Talents are a critical way of strengthening your character. Unlocking a talent requires reaching the corresponding level and using a certain number of Talent Books. Talent Books can be obtained by killing NPCs, looting points of interest, searching for supplies from the future, and by receiving supplies from Spacetime Beacons.

The Front features a variety of advanced cooking ingredients, all of which can be unlocked from the Supplies tab of the Tech interface .
